The HRM build on River Road has begun with Bird Stairs staff volunteering to install the ICF walls for Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia’s first ICF framed home.  The walls are up to the second story and Efficiency Nova Scotia is working closely with the build committee in accordance with their two year agreement to help build Habitat Homes as energy efficient as possible. HRM Council is actively sourcing families for these two new homes which are scheduled to be complete some time in August 2012.

There will be an event to announce the partnership with Efficiency Nova Scotia on the site at the corner of River Rd. And Sylvia Ave., Spryfield on June 2 at 1:00 -2:00pm.

This year’s Title Sponsors are Halifax Stanfield International Airport and the Group of Three: Stewart McKelvey, EastLink and KPMG.

Having received a donation of a home in Musquodoboit, the HRM build committee is preparing to complete some minor renovations and upgrades, with Efficiency Nova Scotia contributing their support and expertise. The HRM Council is in the process of sourcing partner family applications for that home. The renovation to the Musquodoboit home is being funded by our Genworth Financial “Meaning of Home” contest winner Kate Barkhouse of Dartmouth. The Genworth Financial Renovation Project is scheduled to be complete by the end of July.
